Mila Kunis: The New Face of Dior

Well I know I'm REALLY late, but I've just joined the That's 70's Show bandwagon. I never really got into the show until these last few months because my boyfriend always plays it in his dorm. I think out of all the characters, Jackie (played by Mila Kunis) is my favorite. It's mostly because of her feminine style on the show.

I'm actually more familiar with Mila Kunis outside of That's 70's Show because of her roles in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Black Swan (both of which happen to be at the top of my movie list). I think her personal style outside of acting is lovely and I'm super excited that she's the new face of Dior! Yes, I know it's somewhat old news, but it's still just as exciting as when I first found out. ♥

Rachel Zoe Spring 2012 Collection

I don't know about you, but I'm SOO ready for the spring time. I was looking at some more of the Spring 2012 collections when I came across Rachel Zoe. I'm absolutely in love with the maxi dresses and bright patterns. I hope you all like! Let me know what you think:)

^ This one is my favorite ♥ ^

My Cheetah Print Clutch

So today I thought I'd share my favorite accessory in my closet with you guys:) For anyone that knows me personally, you'd know that I have a TON of purses (over 30 to be specific haha). Of all of the ones I own, I'd have to say that my cheetah print clutch happens to be my favorite. I usually carry large over sized bags with me, but every once in a while when I feel like mixing things up (or packing light) I take out this purse.

As much as I love this clutch, I don't wear it that often. Mostly because I tend to lose little bags kind of easily, but also because to me it's an item that you don't really see that much where I live so I don't want to over use it.

The thing I find to be the nicest about it is the hot pink lining on the inside.
I found it on sale at a shoe store of all places and it only costed me $5 dollars.

The Wonderful World of Online Fashion Shows

So one of my dreams is to one day attend New York or Paris fashion week. I somehow doubt that would actually ever happen, but it's never wrong to just dream though, right? :) I'm really REALLY excited that some designers are beginning to stream their fashion shows live for everyone to watch. It's actually, in my opinion, the closest that the public has ever been able to get to the designers. I watched Valentino's Fall/ Winter 2011-12 Haute Couture collection and it was so much more intriguing to view that way instead of the usual online pictures.

Here's the link to Valentino's Fall/ Winter 2011-12 Haute Couture collection.
I've also add a pictures of some pieces from the collection as well. Maybe it's just me, but most of these dresses remind me of some type of old English Byzantine style. I must say that they are absolutely gorgeous! ♥

Cristobal Balenciaga ♥

So before I start off with this post, I just want to thank everyone who's subscribed to my blog through Blogspot, Bloglovin', Bloggers, or just an RSS Feed! This week I reached over 1,000 page-views and over 50 subscribers which is pretty good when you take into account that I've only had this blog for a little over a month:) You guys have no idea how excited I am♥

Okay so.....

I've actually just discovered this designer. His name is Cristobal Balenciaga, lived from 1895 to 1972, and lived and died in Spain. He's know for his fashion house Balenciaga. He inspired a bunch of designers such as Oscar de la Renta and Hubert de Givenchy. After his death, his daughter later took over the company in 1986 and it's now owned by Gucci.

I absolutely love the vintage designs of Balenciaga. They're really classy and pretty. They still have that classic 1950's or 1960's vibe that I'm really into, but it's the patterns and textures that I like the most thought. Let me know what you think:)

The Art of Catching Up

Well this post is gonna be a little bit longer than usual. I guess mostly because I just realized it's been a minute since I've posted any recent outfits. I actually took a few pictures of an outfit I had like right after Christmas, but I forgot that I had taken them until I went through the photos on my camera today (oops! hehe).

It's pretty ironic that I actually wasn't too fond of this dress when I first got it. My mom said that she really liked it on me when I tried it on in the store so I went ahead and got it so I would make her happy haha. After it spent a few months in my closet, I finally tried it on and realized that I really liked it. Interesting how my tastes can change in such a short amount of time:)

A few days ago I decided to buy a set of charcoals along with a blending stump and gum eraser. When I started painting like 7 or so years ago, I discovered that I really liked using charcoals. I think it was the controlled messiness of it that I liked the most. I guess I just got busy and for whatever reason I stopped. This is my latest creation... I'm still a little rough.

I've worn this dress before plenty of times, just not with the denim shirt. I'd usually wear a nice cardigan with it, but I discovered the shirt in my closet and realized just how much more I liked months after the purchase :) I think I see a trend forming haha. The belt is just something that I added in order to cinch in my waist.

I think the thing that I like the most about this dress is the way that it flows. It goes right along with my feminine style.

Fashion Rules I Will Continue to Break

So I guess I'm in a little bit of a rebellious spirit. I kind of have no choice but to be since I've been confined to my bed due to some kind of virus (Oh joy...). Once again I've managed to relate something completely random in my life to fashion. hehe. :)

Am I the only one that finds these "fashion rules" to be a bit of a headache? I mean there's the rule that you have to match your shoes with you belt or purse. Then the one that says you can't wear white after Labor Day. Who actually comes up with this crap??

I think theses are the top 3 fashion rules that I will continue to break:
1. You can't mix prints.
2. No black with brown.
3. No navy blue with black.

I think that true fashion doesn't have any rules. Those rules separate quality fashion from just fashion trends. Which fashion rules do you choose to break?

Inspiring, Uplifting, or Just Plain Neat

So it's only been three or four days since my last post and so much has happened (good, bad, as well as ugly). It's crazy how life can make so many twists and turns in such a short amount of time. I guess I've spent most of my time evaluating various aspects of my life (mostly the people and things I choose to have in it) while also fighting the stresses that college life (well just life in general) can bring a person.

I really want to thank everyone who has actually taken the time out to read my posts. It really does means a lot to me. In this post, I've included some quotes, fashion, and other things that I find to be really inspiring, uplifting, or just plain neat:)

I hope that it might make your day a little brighter ♥

Rococo and Oblivion of the Rich

Most people don't know this, but a lot of my favorite movies aren't ones based in the 21st century. Most of them are based in historical time periods like The Pianist and The Boy in the Striped Pajamas (both based during WWII) and Marie Antoinette (based during the 18th century Enlightenment period).

I like Marie Antoinette the most though because of the extravagant hair and dresses that are throughout the movie. It's fascinatingly just how oblivious all of them are to their surroundings. Even though she lived centuries before us, we could all probably see a little bit of ourselves in her. Many of us want to be able to say and do certain things, but feel chained down at times by society's rules. History really does repeat itself.

Here are some pictures from the film. I hope you like them♥

The High Museum in Atlanta

So since it is a three day weekend because of Martin Luther King Day, I took a little road trip with some friends to Atlanta:) I just expected to sit around and site-see in the little town that I'm staying in, but my friend's mom and I took a nice ride to downtown Atlanta and visited the High Museum. These are photos that I took. Don't panic. We all had permission from the museum to take pictures with our phones:) haha

The museum was having a special show that featured artist from Picasso to Andy Warhol. It's one thing to read and see the artwork in books, but to actually come face to face with it is an amazing experience. Andy Warhol is one of my favorite artists so most of the photos I took are ones of his work. Here are a few. Let me know which ones are your favorites!

Before and After
I love the message that this piece sends:)

Oh the famous Campbell Soup cans... The idea that once you see something over and over again, it loses it's meaning is really interesting to me. Very interesting and very true.

I actually can't remember the name of this one (unfortunate since I am an artist), but it caught my eye specifically because of the color:)

My BOTTOM 5 Fashion Trends

Here's my list of fashion trends that I either like, but that don't look right on me OR that are in my opinion just down right atrocious. Maybe some of you will agree. :)

#5 Skinny Jeans
♥ Forever 21 Jeans
This is one trend that I absolutely LOVE, however, I can't wear them because with my moderately large behind and wide hips I end up looking bigger rather than skinnier (hence the name "skinny jeans"). By the way, if you like these jeans I added a link right below it so that you can check out the price. :)

#4 Hair Feather Accessories
I actually feel like this was a really cute trend until it just got blown WAY out of proportion. I guess people thought since Ke$ha and other celebrities were doing it they could pull it off too, but I think a lot of people lost sight of (or just didn't care) about the way they wore it. I've seen tons of girls and young ladies running around with like 50 million in their head and I just think that's a little bit much.

#3 Head Ties
I'm not gonna lie. I have tried this trend, unfortunately my forehead is just too big. I definitely know girls who do this and can pull it off really well, but at the same time, I've seen just as many (if not more) girls who have completely butchered it. You may not believe me, but one time I saw this girl at my high school take a colored shoe string and tie it around her head. I guess you can say I've seen it all haha!

#2 Braids
I LOVE this trend! It's so beautiful and classy:) Only problem is my hair isn't nearly long enough to pull off. If you have hair long enough to braid it like this picture, I'm pretty jealous right now:) hehe.

#1 UGG Boots

I really just don't understand why people like these boot so much. I mean, I guess I can see why you would if you live where it snows every year, but it makes no sense to wear them in the Southern United States where it rarely snows and almost never reaches cold enough temperatures to need them. I've even seen some girls wear them in the summer time with little mini skirts... I just don't get it.

A Fashion Icon: Jackie Kennedy ♥

Since starting back up with school, it's given me a chance (well actually forced me hehe) to start thinking about history and academic related topics. I know this is completed random, but when I was walking to work yesterday, I walked past some construction work and happened to see this sewer lid (I'm assuming that's what the thing that covers those holes in the ground that occasionally blow out steam during the winter is called haha).

On top of the lid had the number 1967 and that made me have this long chain reaction of thoughts that went from...

the first landing on the moon
 to
President Kennedy
to
his assassination
to
Jackie Kennedy
to
Andy Warhol
back to
Jackie Kennedy

Besides being known for her iconic photos after her husband's death, many people don't give her enough credit for being a style icon. She's definitely one of my top 5 fashion icons:)

I think these photos speak for themselves ♥

Badgley Mischka Spring 2012 Collection ♥

So yet again, I was exploring Italian Vogue and low and behold I found a collection by Badgley Mischka which I have to show you:) The recurring pattern in the collection is all about pleats, bold colors, and metallics (all of which I happen to adore ♥)

I think my favorite is the... hmm well actually I can't choose because I like them all for completely different reasons haha! Which one do you like the most?
